OUZO POWER!!! part I

by Francesco Zezza

That was what I was used to yell to my Greek friends - when meeting them in Syros, one of the Cyclades Islands (in the Aegean sea, two hours of sailing from the port of Piraeus) this summer whether they where members of the MCH team (as George, Andreas, Christine or Johnny) or, else, friends we met there … It was a GREAT STAY!!!

But we will have time for this later !

First things first: and I’ll always remember this MCH meeting (since we – the Italian part – lost the previous summer event because of Stefania’s pregnancy) with a "coincidence" I noticed only once I got there: ages ago (it was 1982) Greece had been my first travel out of Italy and the same was true for my son Leonardo (in 2003). Of course, there is one SLIGHT difference: at that time I was 26 years old while this summer Leonardo was … SIX months old!!!

Any way, here comes an odd, somewhat funny not always rational report of our stay in Greece (my third trip to Greece by the way). This time, despite my usual habit, I didn't take any notes on a day by day basis so I’ll just tell my story based simply on what I happen to remember now (about three weeks later). First will be the Syros island part then the three day stay in Athens.

SYROS: a quick review:

We rented a small house in the typic aegean fashion, facing the Bay of Delphini (actually George, Christine and Andreas managed to do that!) to spent our days on the island.

A nice place to rest (in the sunset) enjoying the sea and the landscape: just look at Stefania, Christine and Leonardo to "feel" what I mean.

One of the highlights of our stay in Syros was (under Christine's leadership) our visit to Ano-Syros where we climbed on top of the hill that stands over Hermoupoulis (Syros main city) and had a chance to see all the typical colours you’d expect to find in a Greek island. The following pics will hopefully give you an idea.
