Belongs to the Family Cyprinidae (carp - like fishes). The tricolor shark, despite its name is a peaceful species ideal for community tanks. It grows quickly (10 cm in one year - if provided with ample swimming place and lots of food) and reaches a size of 35 cm therefore it is suitable for large tanks. Its silver body reflects the colors of nearby objects (the plants in this photo) while swimming. A really fast swimmer has the additional characteristic of being a jumper which calls for covered tanks. Gets afraid very easily. In the mbuna tank it went along fairly well while the mbuna were young but, as they grew up, problems started to rise. A missing scale every now and then became wounds after a while at which stage I decided to donate them to my local pet shop. A voracious eater will eat everything offered. Very easily overfed becomes more "rounded" and loses its characteristic shape.
